Biffa operates from a network of workplaces across the UK, using teams who live and work in their communities. These teams specialise in waste management, specifically collection, treatment, recycling and technology-driven energy generation services that are tailored to local needs and customers’ wishes supported by industry leading resources and expertise.
Through the expertise of our people and investment in technology we promote and deliver sustainable waste management solutions.
Why behaving responsibly is important to us?
Being a good citizen and neighbour is at the heart of everything we do as part of our commitment to ‘Delivering More’. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is therefore part of our DNA and is an integral part of our ongoing operations.
We seek to employ and develop people from our local communities, who then work in and support that community. We aim to truly embed ourselves in our local communities.
The Biffa CSR agenda takes this into account. It isn’t about being ‘on message’, promoting ‘greenwash’, or mounting an expensive publicity exercise. It simply means taking a responsible engaged attitude, and following simple principles that apply now and will continue to do so in the future.
Our CSR Vision
To make a real difference to the communities of which we are part by having a positive impact on people’s lives, both within and outside our business, through responsible, sustainable and efficient practices.
We will achieve this by being mould-breaking in the way we interact with our environment; enhancing the lives of people, places and prosperity.
We aim to lead the way in developing sustainable solutions for everyone we work with, to work with like-minded organisations who have similar aims and objectives and to educate and inform those that don’t.
We aim to ensure that internal and external customers are made aware of the value that Biffa places on CSR and our philosophy that it is not something extra but “a happy coincidence of running a responsible and ethical business”.
