With Biffa's help Moy Park has gone from sending 85% of waste to landfill to recycling and recovering more than 90% of waste in less than 12 months. The company is on track to achieve a target of zero waste to landfill by 2013, revolutionising environmental performance and cutting long-term costs.

"Diverting waste from landfill is one of our top priorities. 12 months ago we were sending 85% of our waste to landfill so we brought in Biffa to help us turn this around and we can now safely say that we have. Reducing our impact on the environment is something that we, our customers and our staff are keen to achieve.
We had started on this journey before we brought the Biffa team on board, and with their expertise in the markets for waste diversion from landfill, they helped us accelerate achieving our goal.
Since the partnership began, Moy Park and Biffa have worked together to identify where these markets are and have worked hard to take advantage of them in order to achieve the goal of diverting 100% of waste from landfill by 2013.
Working together to provide an extensive audit of the company's waste procedures, Biffa and Moy Park were able to identify areas of potential improvement across the business. The partnership appointed individual 'waste champions' for each of the 15 sites involved who, alongside full time Biffa staff working directly onsite, were responsible for reinforcing the ambition of Zero waste to landfill.
Working with Biffa to streamline waste management practices across all of these sites has resulted in a single overarching waste management process, enabling Moy Park to achieve its target much faster than anticipated."

- Since the partnership began in April 2010, Moy Park has gone from sending 85% of its waste to landfill to diverting 90% of its waste from landfill.
- Within 12 months of the project commencing, six sites were already achieving zero waste to landfill. Achieveing this across all sites is expected long before the 2013 target.
- Biff and Moy Park have worked together to appoint on-site 'waste-champions' as well as Biffa staff working full time at Moy Park's facilities.
- Success has been achieved by working to identify areas of potential improvement in waste practices through ongoing waste audits.
