Municipal Disposal Contracts
Biffa serves many recycling and waste management companies across the UK through it’s network of facilities. One such sector is that of the municipal collection contracts where domestic waste residues following segregation and recycling require final disposal.
Municipal or Domestic waste is currently classed as pre-treated so refuse vehicles can arrive directly to site.
Green / Kitchen Waste Contracts
In-vessel composting is a fully enclosed system where waste material is processed within large, sealed concrete tunnels. Air flow and moisture content can be monitored and controlled to create optimal conditions for naturally occurring micro organisms to break the waste down into compost.
The facility has the capacity to process up to 24,000 tonnes of green waste and kitchen waste every year and will help local authorities to recover up to 20 per cent. more household municipal waste.
Rail Borne Disposal Contracts
Biffa operate a rail borne landfill disposal contract with Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority with volumes of 0.4 million tonnes. Waste is brought to site in containers by train, these are unloaded via folk lift truck and then the waste is managed in the landfill area.
