Biffa has begun construction work on the new facility at Brookhurst Wood.

| Spring 2010 | West Sussex County Council grants planning permission for the facility. |
| Summer 2010 | Environment Agency grants a permit to operate the facility. |
| Summer 2010 | Biffa begins preliminary enabling works on site to prepare for construction of the new facility. |
| Spring 2011 | Construction work on the facility buildings begins. Anaerobic Digester (AD) tanks arrive and installation begins. |
| Summer 2011 | Installation of waste processing equipment begins. |
| Autumn 2011 | Work on the visitors centre continues |
| Winter 2011 | More of the processing equipment will be installed within the main building |
| Summer 2012 | Visitor Centre and Office building works construction. |

Commissioning process begins to rigorously test the performance of the facility before it begins full operations. Deliveries of waste to the facility as required for the commissioning performance tests. |
