Buying: Why Use Recycled Plastics?

Using recycled plastic you could potentially save 25-50% when compared with primary compounds. At Biffa, we're passionate about environmentally friendly waste management.

Our team are specialists in plastic recycling. We strive to provide our customers and partners with plastic recycling solutions, including the uses of recycled plastic, to maximise resources.
Not only does using recycled plastic save you money, but it also enhances your green credentials by reducing the amount of waste that goes to landfill.
Our aims for reprocessing plastics include:

  • Increasing plastics recycling and encouraging local authorities to take an active role in residential plastics collection services.
  • Significantly reducing the amount of unnecessary emissions used for creating new plastic materials, by recycling plastics that have already been circulated.
  • Creating a cost effective process for recycling plastic materials, so that both the environment and the economy can benefit.

Recyclable Plastics Conversion

When it comes to recyclable plastics, we formulate plastic compounds from a range of waste polymer types and colours which can include fillers and product performance modifiers. Our compounded polymer range includes polypropylene, high and low density polyethylene, alongside a number of other high quality regrinds.
This choice of feedstock coupled with our granulation, washing and extrusion equipment gives us the control to mix a variety of feedstock, additives, pigments, fillers and stabilisers to produce materials of agreed specification.

How Biffa can help you rethink recycling plastics

We are part of one of the UK’s largest waste management companies, so we are fully integrated when it comes to recycling plastic, and the feedstocks we convert.
During the entire processing stages of recycling plastic, one of our onsite laboratories monitors continuality test output to ensure optimum product quality and consistency.
