Fun fact: Did you know every year Biffa recycles over 10 million aerosols from businesses and capture over 33 tonnes of aerosol propellant gases, which are otherwise harmful to the environment.

Our dedicated aerosol recycling facility is one of the largest of its kind in the UK and we can recycle 100% of all your businesses aerosol cans.

We’ve also been recognised by the Environment Agency as Best Available Treatment, due to our innovative approaches to recycling aerosols and the British Aerosol Manufacturers Association has chosen to recommend us for the disposal of high volumes of aerosols.

How do we recycle aerosols at Biffa?

Recycling aerosols includes the can, its contents and propellant gas, representing a genuine advance in recycling technology. Unlike many other aerosol recycling processes, where propellant gases are merely released to the atmosphere, our innovative solution ensures any harmful gases are captured.

Around 60% of aerosols are made from tinplated steel and approximately 40% are made from aluminium. Both of these metals are recyclable.

How can you recycle your aerosols?

Biffa offers a number of services to help you dispose of your hazardous waste safely. Aerosols can be part of your everyday hazardous waste collection using one of our waste safe mini boxes or if you have larger quantities we can arrange a collection from your site to send off for re processing.

For more information please fill out one of our Quote forms and our dedicated hazardous waste team will get back to you,
