Benefits of Waste Transfer Sites
For local authorities, our waste transfer stations are where their collection vehicles will drop off material so that it can be sorted and then moved into larger bulk haulage vehicles, that are better suited to transport waste over long distances. The change in vehicle reduces the amount of mileage used by smaller collection vehicles to transport the waste, which in turn helps to reduce traffic in local communities. This also means that local fleets of small waste vehicles will be put to better use, returning to waste collections in the local community.Waste Transfer Regulations
We rely on these waste transfer stations to maximise effective sorting and haulage and are designed with the safety of our staff in mind. We also carefully consider the environmental impact of each waste transfer site, and how this can be improved. In meeting all central and local government guidelines with regards to waste transfer stations, we ensure all permits are up to date, and that regular reporting on emissions is undertaken and monitored. We work with our staff to minimise harmful emissions, ensuring that we are spraying dusty waste materials with water to reduce particulates, as well as ensuring that all vehicles on site reduce unnecessary engine idling. Our traffic management plans ensure the efficient flow of vehicles and reduce the turnaround times on our waste transfer stations.
