Simon Baddeley, Commercial Director at Biffa, commented: “We work hard with our customers to help create a sustainable future built around a circular economy, educating our customers to recycle and reuse materials responsibly.  It’s excellent to see so many boroughs we work with being credited for their high recycling rates, contributing to a circular economy and decreasing the reliance on virgin materials.”

“We will continue using our expertise to help customers improve their recycling rates, in turn helping enable a more circular economy in the UK.”

Working with its customers to help reduce waste, identify opportunities for reuse and ensure that recycling opportunities are maximised, forms part of Biffa’s wider sustainability strategy. Biffa has made significant investments in its recycling capabilities to help increase recycling rates, last year opening a £27.5 million state of the art recycling facility in Seaham, capable of recycling 1.3 billion plastic bottles per year.
