Swansea Energy Recovery Facility (small-scale ERF)

What are we proposing?

We will shortly be submitting a planning application to convert a redundant warehouse within the grounds of our Swansea site, into a small-scale Energy Recovery Facility (ERF).

The small-scale Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) will process 21,000 tonnes of non-hazardous commercial waste per year from existing customers in and around Swansea. This commercial waste, which is currently sent to landfill at our Trecatti site, will instead be converted into energy at the existing Biffa Swansea depot.

The reason for this proposed development is to reduce the amount of waste taken to landfill and to produce energy from waste.
