Helping Yorkshire & Humberside businesses recycle more 

A team from Biffa Humberside attended the annual Humber Bridge Soapbox Derby. Demonstrating to the public once again Biffa's commitment to efficient reuse, the team managed to retain overall 2nd place and won the award for Fastest Corporate Team.

They were also joined by an unexpected guest - Andy Wright, the owner of the Facebook Biffa Bin Selfie Group.

We want to say a big thank you all who attended on the day to support us, and Hull Depot for providing bins for the event.

The Biffa Humberside commercial team collaborated with the telesales department to take part in a beach clean-up at Humberston Fitties beach. The team was really keen to help the Cleethorpes community and participate in something impactful as a group whilst championing Biffa values

A huge thanks to all those who participated.

The partnership will give our customers across the region a unique solution to offset their indirect Scope 3 carbon emissions by contributing to Make It Wild's tree planting and pond digging projects at several idyllic nature reserves.

Around 150 tonnes of carbon per year is initially set to be offset, with plans to grow the positive impact of the long-term partnership over time.

Big changes are happening at Adel Dam nature reserve as the Trust makes the entrance more welcoming with information and a covered area. Interpretation and wildlife information will be arriving inside the new accessible hide, with friendly nuthatches already a regular visitor.

Karen McDiarmid, reserve manager, said, “We are absolutely delighted with the work so far at Adel Dam, all thanks to generous funding from Biffa Award. It’s a beautiful reserve and a lovely extension of woodlands walks for those visiting Golden Acre Park, so we wanted to make the entrance, paths and hides more welcoming and accessible to our visitors. We’re excited for the improvements that ongoing works will make to our visitors’ experience of the reserve, and we thank them for their patience and following safety advice while we make these changes.”
