How are metals recycled?
Biffa’s metal waste recycling service is available to a variety of industries, from packaging manufacturers to the construction sector. Almost all metal waste can be recycled into high-quality new products, which is why it’s important to invest in a waste management operator that will ensure that any ferrous and non-ferrous metal is collected and recycled effectively.
Biffa offer metal waste collection and metal recycling as part of our business waste services. We accept the following:

We can also collect smaller volumes of metal through our dry mixed recycling or single stream collections. Our OneCall service, available nationwide, is ideal for one-off collections and electrical items that can’t be placed in a recycling bin or skip container.
Our aluminium cans go through a 60-day closed-loop recycling process. Click play on the video below for more.
Are any metals considered hazardous to recycle?
Though metal itself isn’t considered hazardous waste, some metal items can be, such as aerosols and WEEE (waste electrical and electronic equipment). They are regarded as hazardous waste due to the other components added.
Aerosols that are collected in bulk from commercial recycling services are considered hazardous waste. Every year, Biffa recycles over 10 million aerosols from businesses and captures over 33 tonnes of aerosol propellant gases. They can all be collected straight from your workplace with our hazardous waste collection service.
