Consumer Information Obligations (CIO)
The UK Packaging Regulations place a responsibility on every organisation considered to be a ‘seller’ – i.e. anyone who supplies packaging to an end user – to provide end users with certain information.
Members of Biffpack that record a ‘Selling’ activity in their annual packaging return are encouraged, as a minimum, to make the following links available to their customers in order to promote the correct stewardship of packaging waste.
This information includes:
- The return, collection and recovery systems available to them
- Their role in the recovery and recycling of packaging waste
- The meaning of any packaging symbols
- Relevant chapters of the National Waste Strategy, including its plans for managing packaging waste
